Unique Matters is all about Making Connections and to this end, we identify with the Turtle.
Turtles have been directly connected to the harmony of the Earth, from the beginning. Turtle is sacred to many cultures such as the Native Americans; in fact searching the internet for "turtle myths" returns a fascinating library of what the Turtle means, symbolically, to many Peoples.
U.M. currently sees Turtle representing grounding qualities of Earth to achieve balance necessary to avoid the "stuck in the mud" syndrome. We are reminded to move forward, learn, meet the others we are drawn to meet, as they are to us, and in this way, we grow in confidence (out of the shell) and creative energy (Earth energy).
We have many favorite quotes, but these three work well here...
"The Universe is full of magical things, patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper." (Eden Phillpotts, A Shadow Passes)
"Those who dwell... among the beauties and mysteries of the earth are never alone or weary of life. " (Rachel Carson)
And of course, our absolute favorite... "Imagination is more important than knowledge. " (Einstein)
The photo on the right is one example of exercise in imagination.
What is it? A Critter of the Earth is the obvious answer to us, but perhaps, less obvious would be the idea is that it is a tree root. And that the Tree and his roots may have more memories than he would EVEN want to recall.
And this particular fossil could be, in fact, the result of an Ancient Ritual of Prehistoric Golf Rites, as this 'critter' actually became apparent at the Ladies 6th tee box at Tanglewood Manor Golf Club, in Eastern Pennsylvania.
I told them about him... |
